Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship

Important Note: For the 2021-2022 Academic Year application, the Deadline to apply has been extended to March 1, 2021.  This will allow students to turn in their February 6, 2021 ACT scores if needed to qualify.

The Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship is the most academically rigorous scholarship program offered for those graduating seniors scoring either 32 on the ACT or 1410 on the SAT and a 3.50 academic grade point average. Those named National Merit Finalists or National Achievement Scholars may qualify without meeting the GPA requirement but must still meet the ACT/SAT requirement. The scholarship pays tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board up to $10,000 per year.

March 01, 2021

Requirements:

At least a 32 ACT (1410 SAT) and a 3.5 GPA to apply. FAFSA not required.

Award Amount:

$10,000 per year.

State Teacher Education Program (STEP)

STEP is a loan reduction program that offers yearly loan repayment grants to Arkansas educators who are teaching in a geographic or subject shortage area in an Arkansas public school. Teachers must reapply each year and are eligible to receive funding for up to three years.

Scholarship Deadline to Apply:

July 01, 2021

Requirements:

Graduated after April 1, 2004, teaching in a geographic or subject shortage area

Award Amount:

Up to $4,000 per year. Funds are paid directly to the lender.

Teacher Opportunity Program (TOP)

TOP offers reimbursement funding Arkansas teachers and administrators who are furthering their education. Teachers and administrators may apply for reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses.  Funding covers up to six credit hours per academic year, not to exceed $3000.
